Hazardous Waste

To keep our river clean, environment healthy and community safe, residents can drop off all hazardous waste to our facility free of charge with no appointment. Hazardous waste includes flammable substances like gasoline, corrosive substances like oven cleaners and toxic substances like pesticides.

Rechargeable batteries (inside cell phones, laptops, vape pens, toothbrushes, etc.) must be specially disposed of. These items are highly flammable, and when they're compacted inside our landfill, they start fires. Instead, visit the landfill during regular hours, and we'll safely recycle all of your recyclable batteries for free.  Remember - if it's chargeable, it's not trashable.

What goes to hazardous waste?

Products labeled "Use With Caution" or "Flammable" or "Keep Away From Children" are probably hazardous household chemicals. Some of the most common household hazardous waste items include automobile oil, paint and aerosol cans. If you're unsure, please call (307) 235-8246.
