Hazardous Waste

Modern household chemicals make life easier. These household products placed in the trash might leach out and contaminate surface and ground water supplies. There is a strict ban on placing these items in your dumpster or in the landfill. Chemicals are never to be poured down the drain or into storm sewers. These toxic chemicals are water pollutants.

The best way for all of us in the Natrona County area to start to solve potential environmental and health problems is for each of us to bring our unwanted, leftover household chemicals to the City of Casper special waste and diversion facility.

Hours and Location

The Special Waste and Diversion Facility is located at 1883 Station Rd, across from the main entrance of the Regional Solid Waste Facility (1886 Station Rd).

Special Waste Facility Hours of Operation:

Starting Tuesday, August 11th, the Solid Waste Facility will close at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the remainder of 2020. The reduced hours are part of the City of Casper’s effort to reduce costs due to reductions in revenues. City of Casper garbage collection services are not affected.

In response to falling revenues, Casper City Council approved a furlough plan requiring all city employees to take an average of 32 hours of unpaid leave hours by December 31, 2020, and it reduced overtime as part of the 2020-2021 fiscal year budget. “The Solid Waste Facility will lose approximately 24 hours of employee labor per week,” explained Solid Waste Manager Cindie Langston. “We looked at several options to handle reduced labor hours and still complete the daily waste cover and litter pickup at the facility required by our Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality landfill permit.” According to Langston, closing early two days a week will allow staff to complete the permit work without using overtime. “We tried to select the days that would be the least inconvenient for Casper residents,” continued Langston.

The facility did not change its other residential summer weekday hours effective through September 30th. It opens at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday and closes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Hours until September 30th are as follows:

Monday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tuesday 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Reduced Hours)
Wednesday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (Reduced Hours)
Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The solid waste administrative office will be available by phone during its normal hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Our phones are very busy so please feel free to leave a message for a return call.
