Litter cleanup and prevention are a big part of Keep Casper Beautiful's mission.  Litter cleanup is our main volunteer activity.   You can volunteer as a group or as an individual.

Volunteer as an Individual

Lots of our volunteers pick up litter on their own.  You can do this as part of your daily walks and runs or take special time out of your day to pick up litter.  The best part is-- you can volunteer when it fits your schedule.  Volunteer now

Volunteer as a Group Activity

Your group can participate in an ongoing cleanup (adopt-a-street) or in a one time cleanup (details here). Keep Casper Beautiful provides all the tools for the cleanup: vests, litter tongs, gloves, and garbage bags.  We can even find a location for your group!  Volunteer now

Adopt-A-Street

Is your group looking for a service project that will help beautify your city?  Consider adopting a street within the City of Casper.  Keep Casper Beautiful will provide you with all the tools you need.  What do you need to do?  Pick up litter along the street at least three times per year.  Don't know where you would like to adopt?  We can help match your group to an area!

Great American Cleanup

Keep Casper Beautiful participates every year in Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup, the nation's largest community improvement program!  The Great American Cleanup takes place from March 1 through May 31 and consists of several cleanup, beautification and waste reduction events.

Prevent Litter

Litter begets litter.  Research has shown that one of the best ways to prevent litter is to remove litter immediately.  Leaving litter on your lawn or around your business gives people the impression that no one cares and they will be more likely to litter.    People are less likely to litter if the area is clean.
According to Keep America Beautiful research, 4% of the population is responsible for 81% of the intentional litter.  Intentional litter happens when an individual litters with purpose-- a person throws a soda can in a planter downtown on purpose.  Unintentional litter is litter that happens when individuals do not mean to litter--- a receipt is blown out of person's hand and they cannot retrieve it.
