Update: City of Casper Services

Casper, Wyoming (August 19, 2020) The City is doing everything it can to safeguard the health of its employees and preserve its workforce in order to serve the citizens of Casper.  COVID-19 guidelines and PPE protocols are in place. The following is a list of the status of City services, as of August 19, 2020. 

Council Meetings
COVID-19 precautions are in effect at Council meetings.  All Council meetings including Work Sessions are held in Chambers.  Entrance to the meetings is the east door off David Street.  Upon entry you will be asked to sign-in for contact tracing purposes.   Face coverings are encouraged.  Seating has been gridded into six feet distances.  Seating capacity for the public is fifteen seats.  Media will be given priority for seating.  Public input via email is encouraged:  CouncilComments@casperwy.gov

Critical Services – Water, Sewer, Garbage Collection, Landfill Operations

·  All water, sewer and garbage collections services are continuing uninterrupted. Click here for garbage collection information.  The landfill is open. Click here for hours.

·      Police Department Services

·  Fingerprinting services are limited and require an appointment (235-8469).   Appointments are prioritized for emergency health care workers and critical positions.

·   VIN inspections are by appointment only (235-8469), carried out under strict conditions ensuring no contact with vehicle interiors or persons during the entire process.

·     Police will be using alternate reporting processes for some police issues, when appropriate.

·     The court-ordered Community Service office is currently allowing limited, scheduled, in-person client consultations.  Clients must adhere to PPE and other recommended COVID-19 guidelines.  Options for performing court-ordered community service during the COVID-19 pandemic are extremely limited.

·     Pharmaceutical and over the counter medicine drop-off for disposal for qualifying drugs and medications is available.

One vehicle is equipped for transporting prisoners and windows will be used for airflow throughout the vehicle instead of utilizing the vent system.

·     Volunteer service is suspended.

Ride-alongs with citizens are not available due to COVID-19 recommendations.

Fire Department Services

·     Public access and tours of fire stations have been suspended.

·     Public education activities have been suspended.

Municipal Court

Online, phone and mail-in payments are being encouraged.

In person payments are being taken between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. to accommodate additional sanitation procedures in the afternoon.

Metro Animal Shelter

Metro Animal Shelter has limited public access by appointment only. Visitations, adoptions, and surrenders can be scheduled.

Business that can be conducted over the phone is encouraged.

Cemetery Office Services

·     There is limited public access to cemetery office.

Community Development Department  - Planning and Building
Many functions of the Planning and Building can be handled over the phone or via email.  The phone number is 307-235-8254 or 307-235-8264.
Building inspections will remain the same.  Call to schedule an inspection time.
Contractor licensing exams can now be scheduled by appointment only.
Building permits, fence permits, and sign permits can be requested by calling and scheduling a pick-up time.  Payment methods will remain the same.
Applications and plan submittals are encouraged via email to either delston@casperwy.gov or kshanley@casperwy.gov.
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing permits will be taken by phone, fax, online, or calling for an in-person appointment.
Consulting services for building and code enforcement divisions at the Community Development Department may be scheduled by calling 307-235-8254.  In-person appointments will be scheduled, if requested.


Casper Recreation Center

·    Limited opening.  Current activities are limited to the aerobic fitness equipment and half of the gym for non-contact sports.  Reservations are preferred.

·     Ice arena is closed until fall.  Construction on the ice plant will begin shortly.

Casper Events Center

·     Closed.

Hogadon Ski Area

·     Closed.

Municipal Golf Course
The golf course is fully open: Golf shop is open to two customers at a time. The maintenance shop is only open vendors by appointment and staff.

The 19th Hole Restaurant is fully open along with beverage cart service under the current health order.
