Sidewalk Safety

The Casper Police Department would like to remind the community to avoid blocking sidewalks when parking vehicles.
The Casper Police Department has received an increased amount of calls in regard to parked vehicles blocking sidewalks. As the weather begins to warm and more people are outside, it is important to keep the walkways clear.

“Blocked sidewalks are a safety issue because it forces people to walk into the street,” said Jacci Warne, Community Service Officer. “This means children, strollers, wheelchairs, visually impaired and disabled individuals are forced to navigate around a vehicle into traffic. This puts them at risk to cars driving by. We want to protect them from having to do that.”

Practicing safe parking ensures the right of safe passage for you and your neighbors. CPD’s Community Service Officers will be conducting designated patrols around the city to address and enforce this issue starting on Monday, May 13th, 2019. Other parking violations such as parking in front of fire hydrants and in front of yellow curbs will also be enforced.

The Casper Police Department is dedicated to building and helping to foster a safe community for everyone. The Department appreciates the community’s partnership with this effort. We are #BetterTogether.
