Selling Food
The City is currently waiving fees for mobile food vendors. Food vendors should have the appropriate permits and licensing. Please follow these rules and procedures:
- When parked on the street by a park, vendors must obey the parking limit signs and parking laws. If you would like to close parking spaces or a portion of the street, you must get a street closure permit.
- Do not block or close a parking lot or an area of a parking lot without permission from the Parks Manager. Parking should be done in such a way that the window line would be in the park grass or along a sidewalk; not out into the street. You may park parallel across spaces inside a parking lot as long as it does not adversely affect the amount of parking left. Some of our parks have very small lots, such as Sage Park and Nancy English Park and parking should be done in such a way as to minimize the impact to other park visitors.
- Parking by vendors is not allowed in designated handicap parking and may not block access to these areas or spaces
- Food vendors are responsible for their trash and may not dispose of it at the park. General customer trash such as plates, food scraps, utensils, cups, and napkins may be disposed of at the park. Large items, food waste, cooking oils, and other trash related to preparation of food must be taken with the vendor.
- Tables or shelters may not be used for a vendor’s exclusive use unless that table or shelter is reserved and the fee paid
- To park at a leased facility, such as athletic complexes or a facility that has been rented for an event (sports tournament, community event, etc), vendors must gain permission from the lease holder or event organizer
- Parking is not allowed on the turf surface of a park and driving on a park surface is not allowed unless the vendor is part of a permitted event that has submitted a site plan
Selling Goods
Selling goods in a City park or athletic field is only allowed with the permission of the Parks Manager (
307-235-8283). Merchants must have the proper
permits and licensing prior to gaining permission for park use. The fee for any commercial activity within a park is
$60 per 8 hour period and does not include the use of park shelters. Park shelters must be reserved separately. No staking or driving on city park land is allowed without permission of the Parks Manager.
If a vendor is part of a larger community event that has followed the special event permitting process, there is not a fee and the Parks Manager does not need to be contacted.
Lemonade Day
The parks manager does not need to be contacted for permission to set up a lemonade stand for "Lemonade Day." Children are allowed to set up stands in city parks for the official Lemonade Day and should follow these guidelines:
- Stands should be registered as a participant of "Lemonade Day"
- Stakes are not allowed. Shade tents and stands can be weighted, but should not be staked to the ground.
- Shelters and open tables may be used only if they are reserved.
- Stands should not block sidewalks or pathways--- they should be on the park turf.
- Stands should have a trash can and participants need to clean up all litter around their stand.
