Morad Park Willow Stake Replanting,
a Platte River Revival Volunteer Project

Harvest Day: Sunday, March 12, 2017, 9 a.m. to noon, 8:30 a.m. check-in at Casper City Hall parking lot

Planting Day:  Saturday April 8, 2017, 9 a.m.  to 1 p.m., Morad Park
Check-in for both events begins at 8:15 a.m.

The purpose of the project is to replace willow stakes that were planted as part of the river restoration in Morad Park and were pulled, in an act of vandalism, before they could establish.  Approximately 6,500 willow stakes are missing.  Willows are an integral component of the river restoration.  They prevent erosion by holding the bank.  The entire replanting project will be completed in two stages.  The first stage (Sunday, March 12) will be harvesting willow whips, which includes the initial cut from stands of willows by the river, bundling them, and placing them in cold storage.  The second stage (Saturday in April 8) will be removing the whips from the soaking tanks transporting them to the planting staging area, cutting them into stakes, and planting them.  Volunteers can participate one or both stages.

 registration available here!

A complete registration and waiver/release of claim form is required for all participants.  A parent/guardian will need to sign the release for anyone under 18 years of age.
