Fire Station #6

Location: Corner of Iris Street and Valley Drive
Consultant/Contractor: GSG Architecture
Caspar Building Systems, Inc.
Start Date: March 21, 2016
Expected Completion Date: April 2017
Status: Construction is underway
Cost and Funding Source: $3.445 million - Optional One Cent Funds
A new station will be built to replace the current Fire Station #6 located on Valley Drive.  The existing Fire Station #6 lacks the needed space to house modern fire equipment.  The new fire station will include living quarters and apparatus bays which will be larger than they are at the existing station.

At the existing station, crews must use Valley Drive to back equipment into bays, which can create traffic relays.  The new station will have two access points; one on Iris Street and another on Valley Drive.  Fire crews will use the Valley Drive access to exit the station quickly.  The Iris Street access point will allow crews to enter the station and then use the station driveway to back into the bays.

The construction site will be fenced to control access.

June 21:  Footers have been installed.  Stem walls are being poured.  On July 23rd and 24th Valley Road and Iris Street will be restricted while water and sewer taps are completed.

July 21:  Site Utilities are being installed and masonry walls are being constructed.

August 25:  Site work continues with structural walls complete on the apparatus bays.  Building utilities are being installed and concrete work is beginning this week.
